T.V Shows I'm Obsessed With

13 March 2015

I love stories. That's part of why I read books. But I also love watching movies and shows. As a fangirl I get really into shows. I'm told I get intese and it can be pretty entertaining watching me fangirl and freak out over a show or a recent episode or ship. My goodness I have SO MANY SHIPS at the moment. Its a wonder that my fangirl emotions haven't drowned me yet. Anyways, here's my list, hope you fangirl with me too! (Here are some Netflix obsessions and top ten shows of the summer)

1. The 100. Can we talk about that season finale? My head is still reeling. This is kind of like Lost meets Hunger Games. It's pretty cray. No one is really safe on the show and you never really know what to expect. I'll be watching it and all of a sudden I'm yelling at my T.V, or sobbing into my pillow. The events on the show put my life in perspective a lot of the times. Like why am I worried about my Unit test when Clarke or Jasper or Bellamy are in a life and death situation. Despite the emotional roller coaster this show puts me through, I love it. It's so good and I love it and the characters so much! I even wrote a letter to Clarke Griffin.I love all the strong women on the show. It's awesome to see people depicted without bias or prejudice.

2.Blacklist. I can't even deal with this show. It's freaking crazy. I love Red, I love Liz. I think this show is amazing and I love all the mystery and stuff behind every episode. It leaves you with so many questions you can't help but stay glued to the screen and wait and pray for next Thursday to come faster.

3.Reign. I finally caught up and I'm watching the live episodes now. Wow. That's all I can say about this show. The girls on the show are so strong. Like they have to be bad ass while wearing corsets and heels. Now that's hard.

4.The Vampire Diaries. This show is da bomb diggity. I love Damon, he's my favorite character. He's so sassy and sarcastic and bad-ass I can't help but love him. This season has been really good! It kind of went through a lull, but it's back it's craziness.

5.The Originals. I have to admit sometimes I like this show more than TVD. It's really good and I love all the dynamics on the show. No one is really safe on the show and you never know what to expect from any of the characters.

this poster is so dramatic! I love it!

6.Glee. It's the last season! I can't believe it. The past season wasn't good and I really didn't like it but I LOVE this season. I love the new kids. While some things were a little ehh and not so good this season I still think it's pretty good.
My fangirl emotions are overwhelming right now
Alright! That's it! Hope you enjoyed my post! Tell me what your T.V obsessions are at the moment!

Dear Clarke Griffin,

27 February 2015

I take so many things in my life for granted.

The air I breath, the water I drink, the fact I never have to worry about where my next meal is coming from. You grew up on the Ark a ruthless place filled with stale air and rough people. You didn't get to experience Earth until you were sent here to pretty much die. And since then that's exactly what you've been trying to avoid. You are brave and kind and like Lexa said, a leader to fight for. You helped keep your people alive, even if that meant getting put in harms way, or giving up bits and pieces leaving you a little bloody and a little broken. I'm lucky. I got to have a childhood. I got a chance to be a kid and run around, be crazy, play pretend, not have a care in the world. I might have grown up too fast, but I never had the weight of countless lives on my shoulders.
You know there's a part in a letter where you ask the other person how life is, how they are holding up. I already know the answer to both. You are afraid, anxious, worried about the war. Maybe even thinking about what to do about Lexa. Because underneath it all you're still a teenager, you're still allowed to think about things that may seem small at a time when spears and stuff are being shot at you. Everyone in your life is about to go into war, so i'm guessing they are also scared, and anxious. I can't help but think of what Bellamy said while back, "Who we are, and who we need to be to survive are very different things". There was a lot of sacrifice, particularly on your part to get to this point, to be able to win this war. I want to say something really cliche like it'll get better, you'll be stronger for it. And while they may be true I feel like you deserve more than an "it's okay" after what you've been through.
You're one years older than me yet you are so much wiser and stronger than I could ever hope to be. You never asked to be a leader, but perhaps that's what makes you such a good one. You said recently that life should be about more than surviving. Amazing how things like war can put life into perspective. How frail and ephemeral it all is. You've been living in a perpetual state of war, fighting the grounders, fighting to live, and now a new war is here. I hope you find something that makes you happy because at the end of all the craziness, the battles, and the the gory moments of life, you want happiness. So if you find it I say hold on to it.
I wrote this this in math class. I mean who needs Calculus anyways? You would be in school right now. Maybe you'd be in college, trying to become a doctor like your mom. Instead you are making decisions that make you out to be ruthless while trying to save your people. I think you are bad-ass. Strange how in this world we still can't quite stomach equality between men and women, yet in yours there is equality and the chance for strong bad-ass women to be leaders. I guess what i'm trying to say is that you are someone we can look up to, respect.
The world today is crazy. The world you live in is even more so. Yet the battles seem to be similar sometimes. We all fight for love, hope we can find a friend we can rely on 24/7. We look for the happy moments in life. We try to do more than survive, we try to find reasons to live for and then proceed to try and be alive. It's nice to be able to relate to you. It's nice to see someone be so strong and move forward. So keep being a bad-ass.

Love,

Top Ten Fictional Heroines

23 February 2015

I'm super excited about this week's Top Ten Tuesday. Right now we need role models of strong women in our society that seems pretty set on being sexist. As a feminist I think it's important to have women be in strong roles that are available to everyone. I think it's awesome to read a book with a bad-ass female character. or see a show where women are portrayed as strong and capable. So here's my list of bad-ass, amazing, strong heroines!

1. Hermione Granger from the Harry Potter series. I love Hermione, she's amazing, strong, and capable. I love to be her best friend. The reason I picked her as my number one is because she's smart and she's the reason the Harry Potter and Ron survive any of the numerous problems they encounter. Hermione is strong. When Ron left, she stuck with Harry, She might not be the type of girl to get into fights or make a scene, instead she's strong and awesome in a quieter way, but none the less pretty bad-ass. I mean one of my favorite scenes is when she punches Draco Malfoy.

2. Clarke Griffin from The 100. I read the book and loved her. I watch the show and she's even MORE amazing. If you aren't watching this show, you are doing a disservice to yourself. Anyways... Clarke is honestly amazing. She's only two years older than me and is thrust into a new world into a war she never wanted. She has to navigate and often time sacrifice bits and pieces of her to win the war. I honestly respect her so much. She's also kind, and sweet, and always willing to do right by the people she loves.
3. Regina from Once Upon a Time. She's one of my favorite characters and she's also one of the most bad-ass on the show. She kind of is this force of nature. Sometimes she could be evil and sometimes she was just beautiful and strong. No matter what life has thrown her way she has grown and become a better person while becoming a bastion of strength for a lot for a lot of the characters on the show.
4. Kasta from Graceling. All her life she has been misjudged and ostracized and treated terribly. Yet she over comes everything to see the good in herself and even other people. She's also a great fighter, a master with any weapon, and overall bad-ass.
5. Tris Prior from Divergent. Because I mean come on she's just fucking amazing. Like she's bad-ass, awesome and just like Clarke she's willing to do what it takes to win the war and protect her loved ones. She's overcome so much it's hard to not see her as this pillar of awesomeness and strength.
6. Buffy the Vampire Slayer. She's just awesome. I wish I could be as bad ass as her!
7. Mary from Reign. I mean being a queen is hard work. I love her so much. I love how she's putting others first and how now she's done being a ploy and a chess piece. In a time that is much harsher to women than men, I love how Mary always is independent, regal, and strong
.
8. Hazel Grace Lancaster from The Fault in Our Stars. Strength is more than just a physical thing, it's also a mental and emotional thing. Hazel might not be physically strong and be able to take down anyone, be she is filled with strength and capability beyond what normal people have. She faces death and she's okay with that. There's something to be said about her strength in the face of everything she's gone through.
9. Tally Youngblood from The Uglies Series. This girl has bounced back from everything. She's not an awesome person, she's a revolutionary. I love her because she's flawed yet always willing to fix the messes she makes for herself. She's exceptionally smart and strong in both the mental way and the physical way.
10. Lilo from Lilo and Stitch. This is probably my favorite Disney movie. I will admit it has made me cry, it still makes me cry, I mean how can you not be upset when Stitch takes the story book stands in the middle of the woods saying "I'm lost" so that his family will find him? Anyways... I love Lilo she's weird and quirky but oh so amazing. She's different and doesn't have very many friends but she doesn't let that stop her from doing things that make her happy. I honestly love her so much.

My Musings,

Okay so I LOVE the show. I love the characters, the changing dynamics and relationships, the plot, the story line. Everything. I really wanted to read the book just because I wanted to see what it was like, how it compared to the show. Plus I heard that there was a lot of #bellarke, I ship them so hard. So I read the book with a pretty open mind and I actually really like it.

The writing style isn't really anything special. There aren't incredibly fancy sentences conveying a deep rooted emotion. But it's perfect for this book. The plot is different from the show, but it's good. It surprised me and took me on a journey that I enjoyed. I liked the originality of the story line and the twists and turns it takes. It's not as crazy as the show, but it's pretty good. I love how it was told in different view points. You get to see what Clarke is thinking, what Bellamy is thinking, what Glass is thinking. But because of this changing view point the story line does lag a little bit. It takes a while for things to happen because each character gets a say in what they think, which I actually kind of liked. My mind was a little poisoned by the show because I kept waiting for different things, some happened fast, others didn't come until the end of the book.

The characters are well written, I was able to connect with the characters. They felt real to me. I love Bellamy's character. He is strong and capable and you see him grow in the book. You get to see more of the back story for each of the characters which intensifies the relationship a reader feels with characters in the book. I really felt for Bellamy and Octavia. I wanted to give Well's a hug and then punch him. I wanted to give Clarke advice. That was a big plus in the book. There are different characters in the book than in the show, but you grow to love those two. I honestly don't miss Finn at all. I love Glass. She's willing to do anything for the guy she loves and I respect her for it.

Romance wise, there isn't anything highly original, but I love it. Wells is in love with Clarke. Clarke kind of sort of hates his guts. Within reason of course. Bellamy is cute, sweet, badass and has a giant crush on Clarke and Clarke is crushing on him too. I like the romance and the way it develops. As a reader i'm definitely torn between Wells and Bellamy. Wells has risked everything for Clarke. Bellamy has been through hell and deserves to be happy. I can't wait till the next book!!!

Overall i'm pleased with the way the book happened. I love how different the book is. I love the characters and the original story line.

Coffee for The 100: I recommend a nice warm Caramel Brulee Latte. It's warm and soothing perfect for the WTF moments in the book.

My Rating:

Blogtober: TBR Friday

10 October 2014

I usually hate making TBR lists because I like reading what I want when I want to. But for some reason I made myself a list of things to read. I'm actually really excited about my TBR pile. Usually i'm not because it makes reading, something I love, feel more like homework. But I have a lot of awesome books waiting for me and I can't wait to read them!

1. Queen Of Someday by Sherry D Ficklin I'm actually reading this already and I'm so in love with it. I love the characters and the way the stories set up. And the Romance is on point!!

2.  The 100 by Kass Morgan. I have to say, I love the CW show. I didn't even know this book existed so I have the show to thank! I wasn't sure about reading this book because of the show, but I figured that if I love the show, i'd love the book even more!

3. Melt by Selene Castrovilla. I've been loving all the storybook retellings. What caught my eye with this one was the twist and eerie feel. I'm excited to see where this story goes and how it's executed

4. Suspicion by Alexandra Monir. It's described as "A contemporary DOWNTON ABBEY that has a dash of the supernatural, a hot and heavy romance and a deadly family mystery.". How can I not read this?! It's perfect for me!

Well there's my TBR so far! It's pretty short. Short and sweet. Perfect for me. Enough of a list to give me some sense of organization but short enough that it doesn't feel like homework. So what are you guys planning on reading? What other books do you recommend for me? Have any TBR posts? link them in the comments.
