The Basics:
Los Angeles. It’s been five years since the events of the Mortal Instruments when Nephilim stood poised on the brink of oblivion and Shadowhunter Emma Carstairs lost her parents. After the blood and violence she witnessed as a child, Emma has dedicated her life to to discovering exactly what it was that killed her parents and getting her revenge.

Raised in the Los Angeles Institute with the Blackthorn family, Emma is paired as a parabatai with her best friend, Julian Blackthorn. And her attention isn’t the only one caught: someone has been murdering Downworlders as well. The Fair Folk make a deal with the Institute: if the Blackthorns and Emma will investigate the killings, they’ll return Mark Blackthorn to his home. The catch: they have only two weeks to find the killers. Otherwise it’s open war between faeries and Nephilim.

The Shadowhunters of the Institute must race against time to catch the killers, even as they begin to suspect the involvement of those closest to them. At the same time, Emma is falling in love with the one person in the world she’s absolutely forbidden by Shadowhunter Law to love. 04 August 2015

Release Date: September 1, 2015
Book: Everything, Everything
Author: Nicola Yoon
Number of Pages:320
The Basics:This innovative, heartfelt debut novel tells the story of a girl who’s literally allergic to the outside world.

When a new family moves in next door, she begins a complicated romance that challenges everything she’s ever known. The narrative unfolds via vignettes, diary entries, texts, charts, lists, illustrations, and more.

My disease is as rare as it is famous. Basically, I’m allergic to the world. I don’t leave my house, have not left my house in seventeen years. The only people I ever see are my mom and my nurse, Carla.

But then one day, a moving truck arrives next door. I look out my window, and I see him. He’s tall, lean and wearing all black—black T-shirt, black jeans, black sneakers, and a black knit cap that covers his hair completely. He catches me looking and stares at me. I stare right back. His name is Olly.

Maybe we can’t predict the future, but we can predict some things. For example, I am certainly going to fall in love with Olly. It’s almost certainly going to be a disaster.

This just sounds like it's going to break my heart. But it also seems like a book worth getting your heart broken over. I love contemporary novels because you get to see different parts of life, through different eyes. You get to see someone else's reality. For me the fact that it's based in reality adds to the story. This seems amazing and I can not wait to read it!!

Okay I AM IN LOVE WITH JENNIFER DONNELLY'S WRITING. I fell in love with Revolution, it's such an amazing novel and I re-read it every year. It's a beautiful, heart wrenching, soul shattering story that is worth every tear you'll shed. This books sounds really good too. I love the idea of this being set in the gilded age and how it's about this ambitious girl with big dreams in a big city. The romance sounds cute too! I'm just so excited! Why do I want to read it?

Wow. To think that by the time this comes out i'm going to be in my senior year of high school, is really crazy. Anyway, I've been reading a lot of contemporary and I miss fantasy YA. I miss reading about fantastical crazy things that con't happen in this world. Plus I love this author, I love the Tiger's Curse series, it's amazing. This sounds vaguely like a remake of the Tiger's curse because of the whole finding someone who needs help and going across the globe on a mission. But I hope Houck can pull it off and make this book stand out from her other books.

Waiting on Wednesday #5

17 March 2015

Release Date: June 16, 2015
Book: Every Last Word
Author: Tamara Ireland Stone
Number of pages: 368
The Basics: If you could read my mind, you wouldn't be smiling. Samantha McAllister looks just like the rest of the popular girls in her junior class. But hidden beneath the straightened hair and expertly applied makeup is a secret that her friends would never understand: Sam has Purely-Obsessional OCD and is consumed by a stream of dark thoughts and worries that she can't turn off. Second-guessing every move, thought, and word makes daily life a struggle, and it doesn't help that her lifelong friends will turn toxic at the first sign of a wrong outfit, wrong lunch, or wrong crush. Yet Sam knows she'd be truly crazy to leave the protection of the most popular girls in school. So when Sam meets Caroline, she has to keep her new friend with a refreshing sense of humor and no style a secret, right up there with Sam's weekly visits to her psychiatrist. Caroline introduces Sam to Poet's Corner, a hidden room and a tight-knit group of misfits who have been ignored by the school at large. Sam is drawn to them immediately, especially a guitar-playing guy with a talent for verse, and starts to discover a whole new side of herself. Slowly, she begins to feel more "normal" than she ever has as part of the popular crowd . . . until she finds a new reason to question her sanity and all she holds dear.

Why do I want to read it?

First of all the cover is beautiful and understated, but what got me to look at the summary was the title. It's short and sweet. The story seems so dark, yet cute. The summary is so good, i'm sure the book will live up to it. I'm a suker for cute love stories but I have a feeling this is going to be more than that. It's going to deal with real issues in life, the type of issues no one ever really wants to talk about.

I think this is an interesting story. I think this might be a really cute love story and I'm always a sucker for love stories. It sucks that our society still doesn't really accept the LGBT community and I think stories like this help make it known what's like to be in another person's shoes.

Waiting on... My Best Everything

09 September 2014

Release Date: March 2015
Book: My best Everything
Author: Sarah Tomp
You say it was all meant to be. You and me. The way we met. Our secrets in the woods. Even the way it all exploded. It was simply a matter of fate.

Maybe if you were here to tell me again, to explain it one more time, then maybe I wouldn’t feel so uncertain. But I’m going back to the beginning on my own. To see what happened and why.

Luisa “Lulu” Mendez has just finished her final year of high school in a small Virginia town, determined to move on and leave her job at the local junkyard behind. So when her father loses her college tuition money, Lulu needs a new ticket out.

Desperate for funds, she cooks up the (definitely illegal) plan to make and sell moonshine with her friends, Roni and Bucky. Quickly realizing they’re out of their depth, Lulu turns to Mason: a local boy who’s always seemed like a dead end. As Mason guides Lulu through the secret world of moonshine, it looks like her plan might actually work. But can she leave town before she loses everything – including her heart?

The summer walks the line between toxic and intoxicating. My Best Everything is Lulu’s letter to Mason – though is it an apology, a good-bye, or a love letter?
